Groundnut Oil, also known as peanut oil or arachis oil, is a vegetable oil derived from peanuts. Ground Nut oil is a dark, rich, and deeply flavorful oil. The oil has a mild or neutral flavor but has a stronger peanut flavour and aroma when made with roasted peanuts, by pressing the nuts and removing the oil through a process of cold-pressing.
Groundnut Oil is commonly used in American, Chinese, Indian, African, and Southeast Asian cuisines for both general cooking and, in the case of roasted oil, for flavouring. Because peanut oil has a higher smoke point than many other cooking oils, it is commonly used for frying foods.
The oil is rich in antioxidants and has a rich, nutty flavor. Ground Nut oil is perfect for dipping breads and pastries into, and can also be used as a substitute for butter or margarine.
